As you probably know by now, David Choe is kind of famous. That is sort of fun for us, because we remember the Baskin Robbins’ days. We are very excited today to announce a David Choe x Upper Playground special open-edition print release, featuring 4 classic Choe works. “Bangs“, “Choebot“, “Soulscraper“, and “Swamp Virus.”

Each print is 18″ x 24″, open edition, and $9.95.

Here is how David Choe describes it:

“I realize my art has gotten quite unaffordable over the years, and those not in the print game, don’t have the time to hunt down limited editon rare hard to find whatevers, I will now have something for you! I appreciate all the love and support from all of you who care about me and my work over the years that have afforded me the luxury to create whatever I want without HAVING to suck dick in dark alleyways, now me WANTING to do that, is a whole other story. I will be making posters and prints that are open edition and affordable for all my non-billionaire friends.”

The SF Heritage Preservation Society “Barbary Coasters”

The SF Heritage Preservation Society Barbary Coasters san francisco heritage preservation society barbary coasters

The San Francisco Heritage Preservation Society in conjunction with the California Historical Society presents the first edition of Barbary Coasters. Culled from a fine assortment of nineteenth century liquor and medicinal advertisements, the four-coaster set pays tribute to the debaucherous era of San Francisco’s Barbary Coast. During California’s Gold Rush, this notorious nine-block section of town was known for rowdy inebriates, shanghaiing criminals, snake oil salesmen, and scandalous ladies of the night.

The Barbary Coasters have been created in honor of CAHS’s annual Historic Libations Event, which celebrates turn of the century cocktail making in San Francisco. Each set is handmade in America and includes four antique-tile cork-backed coasters. Only 25 sets made.

Upper Playground For Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

Upper Playground Sandy Upper Playground For Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts fashion delivers

Many of our friends and family have been effected by the incredible destruction Hurricane Sandy has placed on the East Coast. In support of the many people who have experienced loss of shelter and personal items, Upper Playground has teamed up once again with Fashion Delivers to send over $150,00o 0f UP clothing to families and residents in need. We couldn’t believe how much our contributions with Fashion Delivers helped make a difference during Katrina and the Haiti earthquake, and we wanted to help in any way we could with our friends on the East Coast.

We hope that everyone can take a chance to visit FashionDelivers.org to see what you can do to help.

Fashion Delivers battles the effects of poverty and natural disaster by supporting hundreds of community-based social service agencies throughout the U.S. and around the world. We have distributed over $100 million of men’s and women’s clothing and home furnishings since we were founded in 2005, providing a vital service to our agency partners and the people they support.
