Of Ice and Movement by KLUTCH, at FIFTY24PDX Gallery May 2nd – May 26th, 2013
Klutch has been making a mess for over three decades. From his work with the early 1980′s hardcore punk scene and the legendary Skull Skates, to painting backgrounds for ads in Vogue, his work has appeared around the world on t-shirts, skateboards, city walls, magazines, and galleries. In 2005 the suite he created at San Francisco’s Hotel Des Arts was featured in Time magazine’s annual “Best Of” issue. Since then he has accomplished very little.
In Of Ice and Movement, Klutch builds and installation which is a sculptural representation of glacial rust, intended as a metaphor for the constant yet invisible to the naked eye process of personal growth. All work, over 125 handmade wooden columns, was produced over the past 6 weeks exclusively for this show, and this is the only time they will be shown or sold in Portland.
An opening reception for Of Ice and Movement will be held First Thursday, May 2nd 2013, from 6:00-10:00 PM. Show runs May 2nd – May 26th 2013.
