Last night FIFTY24SF hosted the opening of Alex Pardee’s Letters From Digested Children in the lower level gallery. The show was packed the whole time and even had a line down the block of Alex Pardee fans eagerly waiting to see his newest work.  His show was amazing – Letters From Digested Children knocked it out of the park.  Pardee is an incredibly talented fine artist but what distinguishes him from others is his imagination.  He doesn’t just create art, he grabs your attention, weaves you a tale of sadness and horror and leaves you looking over your shoulder for the rest of the night.  His paintings featured children, and the monsters who ate them, and each painting was accompanied by its correlative “Cardboard City” Missing Persons Police Report and the letter from the child being digested.   The highlight of the show was an over-sized monster/teddy bear with a video projection of a child trying to make it’s way out of the bear’s belly.  If you didn’t have a chance to attend the opening last night, the show until Thursday, January 29, 2009.  Read the full story to see the rest of the photos.
